Opulence. Extravagance. A soupçon of desperation.
Join us for a night out at The (Art) Auction, a indulgent gala experience performance. Featuring luxury entertainment, elegant drinks and food (brought to you by our sponsors Pabst Blue Ribbon), and a night of beautiful works and talent – with a spectacular live auction. Help save What Lab by spending your tens of dollars on local art and artists.
Including VIP tickets a various prices with surprise exclusivities. Do you know what it takes to be a Very Important Person? Do we? Buy a VIP spot and find out.
No $$$ to spend on artwork? No problem! We’ll have lots of fun opportunities that aren’t dependant on capitalist structures, we promise.
Attire is East Van Warehouse Black Tie (optional, no one turned away for lack of style).
Email studio@whatlab.ca with questions.
Can’t make the event but want to help? Donate to What Lab.
Last fiscal we paid over $30,000 to artists, premiered 12 new works, and gave over 700 hours(!) of free studio space to artists in support of their work. What Lab currently has no operational funding, which means we rely on project grants for our programming. So, while we’re able (and eager) to distribute our resources to artists, we can allocate very little of this to our day-to-day costs like rent, staff, and maintenance fees.
If you have ever benefitted from having What Lab in Vancouver; if you’ve seen a show, premiered a new work, run a class or joined a workshop; if you’ve danced, sang, gathered in community, had a wild night or a quiet morning; if you’ve laid on our blue floor, staring up at the ceiling, contemplating your creative world, then please donate today.

Accessibility Info
What Lab is located at 1814 Pandora Street. There is no dedicated parking, only street parking. The venue is located on the second floor up one flight of stairs, but there is a ground level accessible entrance through the back of the building. Seating is typically informal, and will include some combination of chairs, floor seating, couches, and cushions. There is one single-occupancy, gender-inclusive washroom. The washroom is not big enough for larger style wheelchairs to completely turn around in while the door is open. We are a trans-inclusive space. Please reach out to studio@whatlab.ca if you’ll need to use our accessible entrance.
