Exquisite Pressure x Hong Kong Exile
What Lab’s Exquisite Pressure is a platform for artists working in performance to try something new—and have community support in celebrating ideas that aren’t yet fully formed, but still worthy of exploration. We’re now accepting submissions for an upcoming ExP, taking place April 9-10, 2027.
ExP is a performance residency culminating in a public showcase. Each artist, company, or collective is given 30 hours of studio time and a paid stipend to create a work-in-progress piece, to share at a public showing. Each round of ExP is hosted by a different local company or collective, and we’re excited to announce this program is hosted by Hong Kong Exile! Hong Kong Exile will curate the event, and provide artistic support to selected artists, bolstering community and care in a creative process.
Curatorial note from Hong Kong Exile
At Hong Kong Exile Arts Association, we are passionate about collaborative, interdisciplinary, and devised processes. We explore new modes of storytelling that are grounded in embodied and diasporic sensibilities, while being driven by formal play.
With this Exquisite Pressure, we’re interested in fostering and encouraging ventures into the unknown, the strange, and the experimental. We’d hope to work with collectives that are in the midst of developing their own interdisciplinary practice, or with folks who come from existing professional backgrounds outside of the performing arts, who may not immediately self-identify as “artists”.
Applications close August 28th @ 11:59pm.
