July Project Demos
After a couple years full of aimless jamming, we decided to spend this July writing/composing music together in a more final-product-oriented process. With the ongoing pandemic transforming the shared studio space within which we had previously worked into a bit of a danger zone, we decided to do this work outside using only our most trusted acoustic instrument–Mark on tenor saxophone and kevin on vocals. Mark had already been practicing music near-daily in New Brighton park, and we had spent several afternoons of this strange new socially distant era hanging out together there, so it seemed a natural place to do this work.
Over the course of a month we put together four songs, and together with a couple of clips we recorded during a studio jam after we decided to be part of the same “social bubble,” these comprise what we are calling our July Project EP. With Mark leaving town for the month of August, we’re not happy enough with what we’ve recorded so far to get a proper mixing/mastering done and “officially release” the EP, but we’re happy enough with the songs themselves to share these demos.
TLDR: After a couple years full of aimless jamming, we decided to spend this July writing/composing music together in a more final-product-oriented process. Using only our most trusted acoustic instrument–Mark on tenor saxophone and kevin on vocals–we spent several afternoons over this course of this month in New Brighton park, ultimately putting together four songs. Together with a couple of clips we recorded during a studio jam, these comprise our July Project Demos.
