WHY WHISPER SUMMER SERIES is a four-part performance series through experimental electronic music, multimedia performance, video art, and live improvisation featuring multimedia artists Rafael Zen, Khalil Alomar, Kaila Bhullar, Liam Murley, Shervin Zarkalam, Stevan Oostenbrug and Toni-Leah C. Yake. Presented in collaboration with What Lab, the series explores themes of machine memory, technological collapse, cyborg embodiment, queer futurity, and the creative potential of glitch.

Together, the series asks how sound, media, and collective artistic practice can help us envision alternative futures and new ways of relating to one another.

The events are cost-free and open to our community.

Accessibility Info

What Lab is located at 1814 Pandora Street. There is no dedicated parking, only street parking. The venue is located on the second floor up one flight of stairs, but there is a ground level accessible entrance through the back of the building. Seating is typically informal, and will include some combination of chairs, floor seating, couches, and cushions. There is one single-occupancy, gender-inclusive washroom. The washroom is not big enough for larger style wheelchairs to completely turn around in while the door is open. We are a trans-inclusive space. Please reach out to studio@whatlab.ca if you’ll need to use our accessible entrance.
